Doctor Who is a British science fiction television programme produced by the BBC. The programme depicts the adventures of a mysterious alien time-traveller known as "the Doctor" who travels in his space and time-ship, the TARDIS, which normally appears from the exterior to be a blue 1950s police box. With his companions, he explores time and space, solving problems, facing monsters and righting wrongs.
The programme is listed in Guinness World Records as the longest-running science fiction television show in the world and is also a significant part of British popular culture. It has been recognised for its imaginative stories, creative low-budget special effects during its original run, and pioneering use of electronic music (originally produced by the BBC Radiophonic Workshop). In the United Kingdom and elsewhere, the show has become a cult television favourite and has influenced generations of British television professionals, many of whom grew up watching the series. It has received recognition from critics and the public as one of the finest British television programmes, including the BAFTA Award for Best Drama Series in 2006.
The programme originally ran from 1963 to 1989. After an unsuccessful attempt to revive regular production with a backdoor pilot in the form of a 1996 television film, the programme was successfully relaunched in 2005, produced in-house by BBC Wales in Cardiff. Some development money for the new series is contributed by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), which is credited as a co-producer. Doctor Who has also spawned spin-offs in multiple media, including the current television programmes Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures, and a single 1981 pilot episode of "K-9 and Company".
The show's lead character, the Doctor, has been played by ten actors over the history of the show. The transition from one actor to another is written into the plot of the show as regeneration, and the different parts are often treated as distinct characters to the extent that in some time travel plots they encounter one another and work together. The Doctor is currently portrayed by David Tennant. In the programme's most recent series, which ran from 5 April to 5 July 2008, Catherine Tate played the Doctor's companion, reprising her role of Donna Noble from the 2006 Christmas special. A Christmas special, entitled "The Next Doctor", was broadcast in 2008 and will be followed by four more specials in 2009 and early 2010, the first being an Easter special titled "Planet of the Dead"; the next full series, Series 5, has been confirmed to air in 2010. Tennant announced at the 2008 National Television Awards that after appearing in the four 2009–2010 Doctor Who specials, he will leave the role. The Eleventh Doctor will be portrayed by Matt Smith

Doctor Who (Everything I Know in Life) TV Poster Print - 24" X 36"ReviewsUsually these sort of posters take home truths that were expounded on a TV or movie series that can truly be applied to real life. Unfortunately the designers of this poster either failed to understand that or really do not know Dr. Who and just tried to grab a few lines from the most recent adventures to jump on the merchandizing opportunity. Examples from the poster are "Time Lords have 12 lives" "Sontarans have a weak point at the back of their necks" "Daleks are made to exterminate" or "Beware the words Bad Wolf." A few lines such as "be suspicious if a planet goes missing" or "Humans will always survive" are applicable but in all honesty the junk far outweighs the good stuff. For those who do not know, Dr Who is a British sci fi series that covers the adventures of a time travelling alien with a fondness for Earth. It ran originally from 1963 to 1989 and was brought back in 2005 and is still in production. That's about 30 years of script flying about with lots of ideas and yet the poster only draws from the most recent adventures and the lines are, for the most part, lessons that only apply if you are Dr. who. They do not apply to the real world. Things which occurred to me from the series that would be far more applicable might be: "If people see you mean them no harm, they never ever hurt you, 9 times out of 10." "An apple a day...ah, never mind." "For the sake of your health I recommend a brisk jog." "Who says you're not important?" "If I knew I wouldn't have to ask. Don't be obtuse man." "I'm full of ideas." "Impregnable sounds too much like unsinkable, and we all know how that turned out for the Titanic." To misquote Cyrano, all these he could have said, but didn't. The writer had a chance to show he was a man of wit and letters. Instead we see no wit and the only letters after his name are A-S-S. Before I bought this I tried to enlarge the image to get an idea of what the sayings were but the resolution broke down. Had I been able to read some of the lines, and seen what poor quality it was, I would not have wasted my money. Learn from my mistake. This is the worst sort of fan boy junk. If you're over 10 years old, skip this. There's actually a misprint on this poster. The line about upward rain reads: "upward rain means that you could about to take an unplanned trip." Where's the word "be"? "...could be about to take an unplanned trip." I wouldn't buy this poster unless they fix the mistake. Average Rating:![]() |

Doctor Who - TV Show Poster (The Doctor / Smoke) (Size: 24'' x 36'')Reviewsthe shipment was very fast and the poster itself is gorgeous. the package it came in was a little hard to open but that's only because they packaged it in a way to make sure the poster didnt get damaged which it didnt. i got it in perfect condition. I love doctor who. Obviously you can see the print - so for the visual you should decide if you like it or no. I got this from Adam Hersh Posters/Amazon.com. Shipment was speedy, everything came new, well protected and undamaged. Another review said it was taped shut, for mine it had a cardboard thing around it which had the top stapled to it so it wouldn't come off. I removed the staple, and inside that there was plastic around the poster. There was no tape but it was entirely sealed, so i was careful opening it. To me that was no problem, sounds like the other poster got it shipped differently. The poster is excellent quality. 100% positive for me, any questions let me know. The quality is excellent and it's just an all around awesome poster. Need I say more? I bought this item a month (or 2) ago and when it arrived 3-10 days later, I was extremely pleased. It was nice and crisp and the detail of the poster was extraordinary fine. I put it in a nice frame, and now I am proud to have it on my wall! The price was very good as well. I would definitely recommend this item to any doctor who fan! :) Excellent quality & picture - my daughter is a HUGE Dr. Who / David Tennant fan, so she about died when she opened this. The only gripe - the packaging- it was taped shut, so when we opened it, it tore a little (kind of repaired, but will never be in mint condition.) Still, since David T. is leaving this year, its a collector's item & wonderful for our big Dr. Who fan! Average Rating:![]() |

Oh Happy DayReviewsGreat CD! I Love the music. Order came on time and in great condition, it was new! I would order again from this seller. Bought this on spec and was very pleasantly surprised. Stand out tracks are Johnny Lang, Michael McDonald, Patty Griffin and Joss Stone. A terrific mix of artists not always associated with gospel music. Worth waiting for it's re-issue! I guess with the artists listed, I expected much more than what is on this cd. It is pretty much just "ok". Really enjoyed just a couple of the songs, the rest were not anything special. This is not what I thought it was going to be, like the CD over all though. Average Rating:![]() |

Doctor Who - Original Television SoundtrackReviewsThis score is right up there with the best blockbuster movie scores Hollywood produces. Television shows tend to be scored with one theme, played always with the title. The Doctor Who soundtrack is fabulous and exciting new music with different themes for different charactors and adventures that create a moving sound picture. Rose's theme is absolutly not to be missed! If I were able to give this sound track ten stars, but god's I'd do it! Listening to these tracks was like watching the series again for the first time. It is absolutely amazing how music can so capture the emotional essence of a thing, and with every new listen I am again taken back to a favorite episode, scene or line of dialogue. The genius's who work to create the music behind Doctor Who have created a whole new kind of audio iconography, and songs like "The Doctor's Theme," "Doomsday" and "The Face of Boe" are so immediately identifiable and emotionally charged, they carry a magic all their own. I admit to crying when hearing "Rose's Theme," "Father's Day" and "Madam de Pompadour." This music holds stories, lives and heart's desires within it's absolutely stunning use of instrumentals, vocals and chorale pieces. If you are a fan -- even a little bit of a fan -- you will only treat yourself by purchasing this sound track. More over it's the only way place to find my ultimately favorite piece, "Doomsday" which carries in it everything that ever was in Rose's and the Doctor's relationship. This music is amazing, you deserve to have it in your collection. -BB- An inclusive collection of musical support to the first and second series that is excellent. This CD includes two versions of the Doctor Who Theme at the front and the back of the collection, and what is in between brings together the tenderness, danger, silliness and in places a kind of James Bond, 60s sound that makes you realize what a free spirit our Doctor is while glimpsing into his powerful and world-changing reality. It is nice to put a face to some of these tracks: The Doctor's Theme, Rose's Theme - musically channel their namesakes and bring us a little closer to them. Cassandra's Waltz should be played in every elevator (lift) in every high-rise, yes? Madame de Pompadour is dreamy, poignant and as precise as clockwork, and what is titled The Lone Dalek evokes a sense of deep longing, deep space, black holes and impossible planets. A collection that is perfect, sensitive, beautiful, frightening and full of energy. Thank you Amazon! You must have shipped my copy in the Tardis. I ordered it on Sunday, selecting Free Supersaver Shipping. I accidentally used an expired gift card, corrected my mistake Sunday evening and received the CD on Monday before lunch. the music from this series would continue to haunt me long after I watched the shows. I couldn't wait to get the soundtrack. Murray Gold is an amazing composer. I swear, the music sounds as though it was written and performed for the movies. The greatest thing about the latest series has been it's production values, writing, acting, underlined by the superb music. All of this makes this show, indeed, one of the finest on either side of the pond. I like this CD even more than I like the music for season 3 of Doctor Who...and that's saying something! The different themes are in turn lovely, exciting and so memorable. I especially like the two sung pieces, which must have been written especially for the show; they are so perfect for Rose and the Doctor! I wish I could find more CDs of music by these talented composers. Sincerely, jane Average Rating:![]() |

Who Is, This Is?ReviewsAfter making a mistake on my initial order, I was having issues getting in touch with the sender( Groove Time Records ). However, once they found out that I was having issues they promptly sent the CD instead of the tape that I accidentally ordered. They were very professional and followed up to make sure I was satisfied. I would recommend using Groove Time to anyone looking for music. Voodoo Glow Skulls' masterpiece "Who is, This is?" became the definition of street influenced ska-punk. The high energy and in-your-face bravado made me realize that ska tunes could be as tough as any hardcore punk song. Catchy, heavy, and even funny; this album shows what the underground can do at its very best. Though predated by their "We're Coloring Fun" and "The Potty Training Years" recordings, this was definitely the landmark album for the band. Dr. Strange himself has even said in interviews that this was the most successful selling album on the DSR label. Every song on the record is vintage Voodoo. "Who is, This is?" is an unsung classic that really deserves more recognition than it has gotten. Here is a real ska-core gem that shouldn't be missed. I got this CD in 97 after being introduced to VGS w/ "El Balie de los Locos." "Who is this is?" is their best in my opinion. I like every song on this one. My favorite is "Bossman," hard for anyone not to relate to the message. Ths music is fast, loud, hard; the horns are especially at the forefront most of the time on this album. I'd definitely recommend this album to VGS newbie fans as a first listen, as it is so much different, and in my opinion better, than their newer releases. After seeing them at a local punk show, this is their only album that really hits on that adrenaline. Going back to my high school days, I used to love this album, and somehow it crossed the nation from its California home to my Alabama one and changed the way I looked at horn sections in punk bands. I then went from one ska band to the other, this was 1996, and then it blew up that summer, with Reel Big Fish and the Bosstones getting airplay on MTV. Then every hack in hacksville loved ska, but no one ever really picked up on this band. And now, looking back over a sea of music I have listened to and the styles of music I prefer now, this particular album, along with Let's Go Bowling's Mr. Twist, are the only ska constants I keep in rotation. I also noticed later that the bald character on the cover is none other than Krillin of Dragonball Z fame with a Saiya-jin suit on. That right there was ahead of the curb as Dragonball Z didn't catch on over here for another four years. This cd kicks ass! I love every song! A must have if you're into ska/punk. Doctor Who - The Deadly Assassin [VHS]ReviewsNot only is this story well written, but because it takes place on Gallifrey, it adds to the background and lore of the Time Lords. It is now a fairly common theme in Sci-Fi, where a charactor enters a computer Matrix, but in 1976 this was a newer concept. The best scene of the episode is the one in which the Doctor fights an opponent in the Neural net. The neural net is explained as a network of all the knowledge made up from the minds of Timelords. It is not living but the Doctor's mind is, and if he loses the battle while in the network it would kill him. The show is really not dated even today, because there are not a lot of tech effects in it. They relied on good studio sets, costumes and a very strong supporting cast. This show had the controversial freeze frame cliff hanger that showed the Doctor's head being submerged under water. The acting was superb and the story grips all the way to the end. There is a real sense that the Doctor has perhaps met his match in this one. For my money this is far and away the best episode of Doctor Who. It is definitely Tom Baker's finest work on the series. This episode is also one of the darkest and most violent of the entire series with plenty of political intrigue. The writing is first rate. Definitely worth buying. For all fans of the Doctor, "The Deadly Assassin" surely ranks as one the best stories of the Tom Baker era. Watching the two Time Lords battle it out on their home planet, rather than Earth, is both absorbing and gripping. The script is outstanding, with many memorable quotes throughout. The Doctor's fight for survival in the Matrix is the highlight of the story and is a testimony to the Doctor's wit and determination. The many colorful characters, the humor, and of course, the action, make this Who adventure a must-have for all fans. Highly recommended. This episode is unique among all of Tom Baker's many outings as the Doctor because it is his only turn without a companion. Apparently it came off because following Liz Sladen's departure at the end of "Hand of Fear", Baker wanted to try a one-man show for fun and the prodcuers agreed - provided everybody understood it was a one-time-only thing. The result is "The Deadly Assassin" an entertaining and very revealing episode which takes the Doctor, all by his lonesome, back to his home planet of Galifrey to tangle with his oldest enemy, The Master."Assassin" has a lot of unusual qualities. In addition to the solo appearance of the Doc, it is an unusually physical and violent episode, and also sheds some light on the society of the Time Lords and on Doctor's (delinquent) youth on Galifrey. In this episode, the Master has passed his twelfth and supposedly final regeneration, and is now basically a disgusting animated cadaver. He lures the Doctor back home by planting a vision in his mind of the assassination of the Lord President of Galifrey, but when the Doctor returns to foil the plot, he not only fails but becomes the prime suspect. Scheduled for execution ("Vaporization without representation is tyranny!") he has just twenty-four hours to expose not only the real assassin but discover who is pulling his strings. Much of the episode takes place in a disturbing 'dream reality' in which the Doctor battles Garth, the Master's homidical power-grasping flunky, who stupidly believes serving the Master will lead to something other than a horrible death. The dream reality is more of a nightmare: part swamp, part quarry, part fog, and all ugly. The final confrontation between the Doctor and Garth in the swamp is graphically violent, at least by "Who" standards, and caused some controversy in Britain when it was first aired. Of course, when the Doctor comes back to reality, he still has the Master to deal with, and this rotting, robe-clad version, unlike the previous (and later) portrayers, has all of the viciousness, egotism, and homididal mania we expect from the character with none of his usual charm or humor. What is it about putrefying while still alive that takes all the spring out of a man's step?"Assassins" is an enoyable episode, but unusually dark, and its very premise -- having the Doctor operate without a companion -- works against it to a degree. Somehow the show's formula doesn't achieve the right chemistry without this missing element; it helps to have a "fish out of water" for the Doctor to play off of (and rescue), not to mention to divide screen time with. It was an interesting experiment, and helped serve as an interlude between the departure of Sarah with the arrival of Leela, not to mention set up the Master's return in a less decrepit form later on, but I'm glad that during Baker's run at least, one experiment in this direction was enough. Three and a half stars. "Through the millennia, the Time Lords of Gallifrey led a life of peace and ordered calm, protected against all threats from lesser civilizations by their great power. But this was to change. Suddenly and terribly, the Time Lords faced the most dangerous crisis in their long history."So begins the only story where the Doctor is without a companion. After seeing the assassination of the president in a precognitive vision, in which he is the assassin, the Doctor lands on Gallifrey and is ordered arrested by Castellan Spandrell. He leaves a note warning them of the assassination, eludes the bumbling Chancellery guards, led by the [fool] Hildred and tries to stop the killing to no avail. The Doctor buys time by invoking Article 17 of the constitution, in which he announces his candidacy for the presidency. He has the Castellan, an open-minded Time Lord who is a "simple seeker of the truth," as an ally. He tells the Doctor: "I believe you are going to be executed for it [the assassination]" His old teacher, the jurist Cardinal Borusa, defends the Doctor's use of Article 17 against Chancellor Goth, who as interim leader, wants the Doctor executed. He says to Goth, "All presidents are faced with difficult decisions. It is by their decisions that they are judged." It's when the shrunken body of the PR announcer's soundman is found in the camera that the Doctor recognizes the Master's trademark method of killing. The latter part of Episode 2 and all of Episode 3 are spent in a dreamland of the Matrix, where the Doctor battles an unknown adversary--the Master's champion. He carries on, saying, "I deny this reality. The reality is a computation matrix." Weird and surreal scenes, such as eyes appearing on a cliff face, a WWI soldier in gas mask, machine guns rattling, and even a Samurai warrior appear.Funny Tom Baker lines: "Extraordinary. The roof's still on. I could have sworn it fell on me." To Hildred: "I confess you're a bigger [fool] than I thought you were." To Spandrell: "Vaporization without representation is against the constitution!"The prelude, spoken by Tom Baker after the opening titles, has another context given the events of 11 September. Other quotes from this story that lend credence to this connection: Borusa: "We live in evil times." and he also says in reaction to Goth's reactive move for a swift trial: "This is a time to reflect, for passions to cool." and "A violent action is causing an opposite and violent reaction." If only these lines were applied...Other elements this story incorporates is the Manchurian Candidate, the JFK assassination, and the investigation of a conspiracy. And then there are term limits. An aging Time Lord remembers a president who served for 900 years, saying: "Now they're chopping and changing every couple of few centuries."This is one of the most important stories in the series' history, as we get a more detailed look at Time Lord society. We learn what the Matrix is, the lifespan of Time Lords, and the three chapter and associated colours of Time Lords. Prydonians may seem devious but as Goth says, "we simply see a little further ahead than most." There are links to past stories, such as the Doctor's trial (The War Games) and acquittal (The Three Doctors).Much of the Doctor's time is spent with Spandrell and Coordinator Engin, who assist him in his quest to exonerate himself. They make a good team. Spandrell is the tough-minded and sarcastic one, while Engin has the personality of a chatty and friendly librarian. The Doctor has the rational and imaginative quality they lack. Both George Pravda (Spandrell) and Eric Chitty (Engin) bring their characters alive, with refreshing personalities. One of the most important stories in the series' history, where we get a bigger view of Time Lord society. Surely Robert Holmes' masterpiece. Average Rating:![]() |

Doctor Who - The Invasion [VHS]ReviewsI won't rehash what everyone else has already written. However, I will say that I am thrilled that the Beeb released this. What a great Troughten era episode. I do disagree with the assessment from some that the animation is great. It isn't awful, but it could have been MUCH better. The best comparison is Johnny Quest. Really. The characters move like stop-action filming. I wish that they had sprung for some better animation - CGI would have been great. Having said this, it is head & shoulders better than the reconstructions with the stills (these are lovingly made, but can be tedious to watch). Bottom line: the animation is only two episodes & it is watchable & the story is great, so get it. The animation of the missing episodes were brilliant! Let's hope that they will apply this formula to more of the first and second doctor's stories! I'm on the edge of my seat for this one! One of the best early serials, this story has painstakingly been restored to as-good-as-possible shape, with "missing" segments restored by animation. If they would do such good work for other "missing" serials, many classic Doctor Who stories could be regenerated into new life. Product, video DVD, arrived with broken jewel case. In standard mailer and unmarked. Understand marking as video attracks theft, but maybe marking as fragile would help. DVD fine antd I have another jewel box for it, but was a bit scary for a few seconds when I thought the DVD might have been affected. Second Doctor Who actor Patrick Troughton gives one of his best performances not "entirely" lost like most of the episodes from 1963-1970. While some of those stories exist in thier entirety, most are incomplete. THE INVASION has 6 of the 8 episodes that remaim entirely. The other two episodes (episodes 1 and 4) make this DVD truely UNINQUE. While video footage of 1 and 4 has been lost the audio remained, and now replaced with animated reconstructions. What hurts this otherwise CLASIC STORY is the sheer lenghth, which can be blamed on the BBC after the original script called for a six part story. These stories are a part of the extras which are a must for any fan of Doctor Who. The real treasure of this story is three-fold #1 the introduction of Nicholas Courtney as Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart and UNIT #2 the return of the Cybermen the sound of thier invasion itself is priceless #3 Kevin Stoney as the real villian of this story, Tobias Vaughn is worth purchase price alone. Truely one of Doctor Who's greatest Villians. Average Rating:![]() |

Dr. Seuss - Horton Hears a Who [VHS]ReviewsIf you remember the monkeys shouting "Boil That Dust speck" you might be disappointed with this DVD. This not the classic my daughter's and I remember. This is a watchable DVD, but it does not come close to the original TV version. If you are thinking of buying an animated movie, this is not the choice. It is very confusing to identify the 3d animated movie, with so many titles given the same name. I had to return twice as I couldn't get the right one. Better contact customer care and confirm the content before ordering it. Thus you can avoid all those returning headaches. I am still surprised to see these titles floating in Amazon ever after having so many complaints that the title and description do not depict the content accurately and most of the time misleading. Buying blue ray version for these still pictures makes you even more disappointed. And also gives negative impressions on Amazon. Just so you know, returning is easy. Anyway beware! You know it's an unusually good week when Warner releases on Blu-ray three thowback classics, two of which involve a certain Dr. Seuss and one of which involves a certain Willy Wonka, and when Disney releases on Blu-ray "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs." You could probably beat that, but you'd likely faint from the effort. First up is 1970's "Horton Hear's a Who," which neatly captures the bizarre quirkiness Seuss created in this timeless, 1954 book. That book might have been created by Seuss as a reaction to McCarthyism (true!), but its strengths nevertheless exist in imagination, which director Chuck Jones, working from Seuss' script, captured beautifully. Unrated. Grade: A Christopher Smith/[...] [...] This was a classic movie even though the new one was better but it was good Great video for my kindergarten class during Dr Suess week in March; the extra footage made it an exceptional buy Average Rating:![]() |

Doctor Who: The Complete Fourth SeriesReviewsI was surprised and delighted by that throwaway snark delivered by David Tennant. Donna Noble is my favorite but I watched the season on tenterhooks not quite believing that she was going to be staying for the duration of the season (I had no idea who Catherine Tate is nor that she earned the affection and interest of television viewers from her work on The Catherine Tate Show such that Doctor Who was lucky that she deigned to do the show!) It's too bad we couldn't be gifted with Catherine Tate's first appearance in the Runaway Bride episode that kicked off Season 3 because without it, I can believe that they're just mates but with it, I think it was love at first sight for The Doctor. Let me say right off that Rose Tyler is my favorite of all the Doctor Who companions. However, there's something almost indescribably unique about Donna Noble: she's like the synthesis of all Doctor Who companions. She's more mature than anyone since Barbara, the first Doctor Who companion. Yet she's also seductive, but not in a sensual Rose Tyler or Martha Jones kind of way; more like Tegan or Nyessa - or, once again, like Barbara from the William Hartnell years. And the stories themselves have a more mature quality, in that Donna and the Doctor seem as much like tourists on an extended vacation as time-travelers moving from one adventure to another. Donna never loses her cool or wanders off the way Rose often did; and she never doubts that she's made the right decision to accompany the Doctor. Though the Second Season is my favorite Doctor Who season and Christopher Eccleston my favorite of the new Doctors (William Hartnell remains my all time favorite Doctor), this one - the Fourth Season - stands as much the quintessential Doctor Who Season as Donna Noble does the quintessential Doctor Who companion. I have enjoyed the new Doctor Who series! I can remember the old series and sets would fall down. Tom Baker was my favorite at that time, but David Tennant was the best, while Chrisopher Eccleston was wonderfully as the 9th Doctor. Billie Piper was always be my favorite companion because both the 9th and 10th Doctors were very, very fond of Rose. Mr. Russell T. Davis, thank you for bring back Doctor Who! Received in good time, haven't opened it yet but looks in good condition in the wrapper. Thanks. I bought this set at Amazon as we approached the end of David Tennant's tenure as Doctor Who. My kids and I have only recently (within the last two years) begun watching the show and it has become the one that we cannot miss. And series four is my personal favorite, because of Donna Noble. (Well, and Tennant and Russell T Davies and Julie Gardner...) Donna brings a companion to the series who is clearly an adult, and one who has developed her own sense of integrity, her own judgement of right and wrong that does not bow to the Time Lord but can make the Time Lord bow to her, as in the conclusion of "The Fires of Pompeii". Watching Donna come to an understanding of the dilemma the Doctor faces in making the difficult choices, reaching her own sense of rightness, and taking some of the responsibility onto herself gives her companion more importance than the flirtations with the two previous girls could achieve. Transforming from a silly woman to a true friend, Donna brings great things to the show. And, of course, the famous literary character (Agatha Christie), the child genius gone unthinkingly wrong (The Sontaran Stratagem), and the stunningly surprising question, "Is the Doctor married?" (Silence in the Library)... Well, good times are had at my home every time we bring out these DVD's. Average Rating:![]() |

Horton Hears a Who (Widescreen and Full-Screen Single-Disc Edition)ReviewsThis is a great movie! My 2 and 3 years old both enjoyed it and I must say that I was even able to watch it with them and enjoy it. The kids laughed the whole movie, which I usually don't hear. I would recommend for children and adults of any age. In Horton Hears a Who, the designy world of Dr. Seuss is translated brilliantly into a 3D animated movie. Whoville is abundantly filled with delightful sight gags and a rich color palette. There's quite a lot of amazing stuff in here. The "backgrounds" and environments are exceptionally rich in detail. The biggest flaw in this film is it's a mistake to voice-cast a skinny, hyperactive guy like Jim Carrey as a fat, lumbering elephant. The conception of Horton in the original Seuss book is a deep-voiced, slightly dumb and dorky animal with a very big heart, who succeeds in spite of himself. Jim Carrey inevitably turns any character he plays into a smart aleck. Consequently, Horton as depicted here possesses both massive, jungle-rumbling size and apparently, lighting speed and hyperactive reflexes too. Every character in this movie either has ADD or is on speed. I'm not too thrilled with the casting of Charles Osgood as the voice of the narrator, either, as I half expect to a see a CBS reporter show up in Who-ville at any moment. Still, his voice is inevitably reassuring. But again, Osgood is not a very imaginative casting choice. I'm sure there are any number of unknown voice artists who could have put some fresh wrinkles into this part. I take this as proof that the "star system" is a time-honored practice designed to pander to the audience. This system really gets in the way of new talent rising to prominence. Still, this is delightful movie that takes every opportunity to thrill us with the endless variety of camera moves and perspectives possible in 3D animation. It's middle-of-the-road commercial entertainment designed to attract a mass audience. The art direction and design work make this a movie well worth seeing, especially in Blu-Ray. I knew this movie would be a hit with my kids which is why I purchased it. It was purchased "used" and had been a rental box item so I was hoping it was still in the promised condition, which it was! I was pleased with that. The movie itself is entertaining and a great choice for a family who enjoys Dr. Seuss. The voices of the characters are so much fun, even for adults! The message behind this one is great, driven in and kept fun. A great movie based on the story by Suess, a favorite of my kids and now a favorite movie of theirs. While they already had this one I did pick another copy up for my neice for X-mas. Recommended to kids and Suess lovers everywhere! If you like the story, which of course you do. You'll love this film. Great voices and beautiful animation. Average Rating:![]() |

Horton Hears a Who! [Blu-ray]ReviewsThis is a great movie! Cellex-C Advanced-C Eye Firming Cream, 30 mlReviewsWhat is it they say about eyes? Is it they're the mirrors of the soul? Well, your mirror may tell you something very definite about your eyes. There does come a time when eye cream is no longer a take-it-or-leave-it indulgence but a really-must-use-it. When that time comes depends a great deal on genes, climate and, yes, friends, age. So, if you've reached the point where those lovely creases are about to become more than traces of a smile better get serious about some moisturizer for around those peepers. Often, you'll use one eye cream for day and another for night. A lighter cream that absorbs quickly is preferable for day wear as one can easily and quickly apply makeup over it. If the skin around your eyes truly needs TLC you might consider a heavier cream for night. This is a lovely effective cream for those whose mirrors tell them they really do need heavy duty TLC. Do remember to carefully read the directions as it is intended for use only with other products. Average Rating:![]() |

Dr. Doctor Who Police Booth Linear Tardis Navy T-shirt TeeReviewsI have fond memories of coming home from elementary school in the early 1980's and watching the latest (at least in the US) episode of "Doctor Who" on PBS. The local public broadcasting station gave me a healthy dose of Tom Baker as the beloved Doctor, and then played a dirty trick on me by showing a few of the Jon Pertwee adventures. At the time I wasn't aware that the Doctor regenerated (or that Pertwee actually came before Baker). As I got older, the good Doctor was relegated to Saturday evenings and I managed to see all seven of the classic Doctors, Peter Davison becoming my favorite. Jump forward into the new century (and breeze by the made-for-TV movie featuring Paul McGann), and I learned that the Doctor was regenerating once again in the form of Christopher Eccleston. I was so happy to see my beloved Doctor return to the screen. When David Tennant took over duties in the TARDIS, he quickly moved up to second place as one of my favorite Doctors. Now I have this wonderful t-shirt to show off my Whovian pride. It features soft cotton structure, a deep "TARDIS" blue color, and a simple drawing of the beloved police call box topped off by the revived series logo. It doesn't scream, "I LOVE DOCTOR WHO!!!," but it does let any passersby know that you're a fan of the show. Highly recommended to fans of "Doctor Who" and anyone who wants to look like an intelligent science fiction fan. I bought this shirt for my son's 18th birthday. He loved it (we've been fans of the show for about 2 years--discovered it on the BBC America channel). So thank you! This is the essential T-shirt for the older, less attention grabbing Doctor Who fan. If the Who fanatic on your list does not wish to go around with a T-shirt telling people that they will EXTERMINATE! the world, this is the article of clothing for them. It subtly tells people that they like Doctor Who without making them look like they want the world to be destroyed by Daleks. This is also a very reasonable price, especially for Who fans from across the pond. Average Rating:![]() |

Dr. Who - Red Linear Dalek Adult T-ShirtReviewsThe shipping took a little longer than expected, but the t-shirt arrived nonetheless. I would suggest allowing at least two weeks if you want the t-shirt by a specific date and use the free shipping option. It is an official Doctor Who product and looks just as it is presented on the site. I'm satisfied with my purchase. Average Rating:![]() |

Doctor Who Tenth Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver Limited Edition PackReviewsAlthough this sonic screwdriver looks pretty cool, it is a peice of junk. It can easily be broken. My 7 year old son played with it for two days and the button to turn on the light/make the sonic noise broke off. We have yet to find the little button. (Not good if you have small children) I do not recommend this toy. Average Rating:![]() |
