these make the perfect gift for anybody you know who is a gamer of any sort.

I bought these as a present, and as soon as i opened it, i wanted one of my own. The invaders are small, but adorable none the less. When my boyfriend opened his present, his entire family crowded around, and everyone owww'ed and awwww'ed. His parents loved them because they both remembered the invaders from playing the video game. In fact, they got more of a reaction than the big gift i got him. So all in all, they are amazing, and i would highly suggest this to anyone. WARNING : I know from experience DO NOT PUT THESE IN THE DISHWASHER. They mess them up all hardcore.

These are so much fun! The guests got a kick out of ice invaders and it was a great little flashback for all of the 80s babies. Even my little niece (2 1/2 years old) had fun with them. For her we were catching aliens! Lol, you'll totally enjoy them!! I think the only bummer was I didn't make enough before the party - so they went really fast.

Fun little treat - for munching on ice or cooling down some lemonade. The ice cubes come out small but I expected it as such from the reviews. I'm hoping to make jello or frozen fruit treats in here soon and I think that this will work out wonderfully for that as well.

I love this mold, I've used it several times to make chocolate space invaders. I even got a second one, so I could produce my armies of chocolate invaders faster! Also can make ice cubes, but I've only done that once or twice. Worked well for that, too. The Fred molds are higher-quality than the Lekue molds, the Fred ones are made of cooking-grade silicon which will hold up to high temps well. I've had some Lekue ones melt in the dishwasher from being on the lower rack too close to the heating element, while the Fred one right next to them was fine.

This was purchased as a gift. The recipient was very happy with it and says it is perfect for her busy schedule on campus (college).

I'm a college student. I'm always all over campus, and I've definitely noticed that eating out for lunch every day can be a little pricey. I got this alien laptop lunch box for Christmas, and I love it! I've been using it for a few weeks, now. It's durable, spill-proof, and stays cold all day. For me, it's an excellent, healthy, inexpensive alternative to eating out!

These were Christmas gifts for my 2 grandchildren! They were just as promised, and better than expected! What every mom on the go needs for her kids!

5 Stars = Masterpiece Joe Satriani along with his protégé Steve Vai, are probably the best known shredders, though they were not the first. The big difference though between Joe, & most others (including Vai) is that he respects the structure of a song, whether it be instrumental or with vocals. The man can not only play, but he can write also, & he writes very well! You see, Joe knows when to play lead guitar & when to play rhythm, & when to shut up. He does not go on noodling forever, saying nothing, which is the big down fall of the shred genre. Joe is at once concise, but also possesses an extensive guitar vocabulary second to none, & equaled by only a few. I have several Satriani albums, but there are two for me that are a guitar neck above the rest, "Surfin' With the Alien," & " Flying in a Blue Dream." Both are masterpieces, & both completely different. On "Surfin' with the Alien," Satriani provides the shredder genre with it's first masterpiece, an all instrumental attack on the ears! Not really a fusion album, but a "shred" album, & on it, Satriani plays like he is a fusion guitarist hopping over to the more structured side of rock. He cuts it through out the album magnificently, announcing a new force to be reckoned with, & a new genre, "shred," coming of age. "Surfin' with the Alien," is the standard in shred, for all other shredders to be judged by. Just an awesome piece of work!

I dont know why this album is Joe's best selling on Amazon. Some songs are too short, others are just garage band noise. Not Joe's best, neither worst, just average. Aged, and only 5 songs worth a listen on my iPod.

This was Joe's introduction to the masses back in 1987-88. It won the best overall album from Guitar Player magazine back in '89 so those who insist on insulting this cd are in the distant minority. There are several great tracks, The 'Lords of Karma' being my favorite with the dynamic 'Circles' being a close second. The bass lines are nothing fancy, and Joe sometimes is capable of going over the top, but that's OK because he's basically showing everyone what he's got in his tank, and it's full high test.

This was a break threw album for this artist. It was also the first of his recordings I heard of and I have been a fan ever since. However the original recording wasnt so well done but this remastered version is much better.

I could not possibly put into words how awesome this album is.In my opinion it is my favorite album to play while driving. The album that put "Satch" on the map. This guy was Steve Vai's guitar teacher. Shred on Joe!

The Wiggles: Space Dancing The Wiggles: Space Dancing

Reviews

My two daughters and I love the Wiggles. We own about 20 DVDs, almost every one they've made. This is the only one we are not a fan of. It's just weird. My 3 year old kept asking where the Wiggles were. She didn't understand that they were animated wiggles. There is too much goofy story and not enough singing and dancing.

My boys have been watching this movie at least once a day, everyday, since we received it. Great, purchase. The Wiggle Rock!!!

This is a very good DVD. It is very different from the normal Wiggles shows. It is a story using clay/computer images. My girls really like it, but it took a time or two for them to really get into it. They LOVE The Wiggles, so after they were use to seeing the Wiggles a little differely they really enjoy watching it.

My 2 1/2 year old nephew loves this video and learned the title instantly, so the first thing he says when he visits me is "watch Spacing Dancing?".

I bought the DVD for my son Dustin who is 2 1/2 years old. He absolutely LOVES The Wiggles and this DVD was no exception. He watched it constantly until we bought him another Wiggles DVD from the store. I really enjoyed this DVD and all of The Wiggles DVD's.

ANThology ANThology

Reviews

This product was great, just what I was lokking for. It came very fast. I was in my mail box in two days!!!

I want to mirror the statements of those reviewers who noted that Alien Ant Farm is a far better live act than a studio recording team. Yes, they polish up nice, but their live performance is stellar. I saw them shortly after this album was dropped (they opened for Lit) and I was blown away by their energy and presence. Its funny how, when placed in a live setting, a song can take on a totally different form. That said, Alien Ant Farm's debut album `ANThology' is a pretty decent collection of catchy and engaging rock tunes. They have the issue of becoming too comfortable and thus too redundant (there's a stretch in there that runs itself together) but for the most part this is a solid album. If they had extracted maybe four tracks from the album (9 songs is a good length, leaving no room for filler) then this album would be an A for me. I'll start by getting the four I'd throw out, out of the way. `Summer', `Sticks and Stones', `Stranded' and especially `Death Day' are just boring. `Summer' kicks off the stretch of redundant tunes, and while `Attitude' is in that stretch, I still enjoy that song to a degree and feel that it is the better of the monotonous tracks. If the others didn't exist then it wouldn't feel redundant to me. `Death Day' is just plain bad. I don't see anything about it worth noting other than that I don't like it. 13) Death Day 12) Summer 11) Stranded 10) Sticks and Stones Thankfully, the rest of the album is very good. I love the vibe to `Flesh and Bone' and find the fun quality of `Calico' to outweigh the apparent silliness of it all. `Universe' was a nice way to end the album, not necessarily for the track itself but for the hidden track that follows it, which is one of my favorite parts of the album. Like I mentioned, `Attitude' carries the same general flow of the four bottom tier tracks, but it is slightly better. I actually think that I'd really like it had it not been muddled by the tracks that surrounded it. 9) Attitude 8) Universe (although the hidden track would be at like #3 for me) 7) Calico 6) Flesh and Bone The album opens with a bang, the one-two punch of `Courage' and `Movies' really setting the tone for the album. This is one main reason why I wish that they had trimmed the fat a little. These songs are so amazing that it really gets your hopes up, and it's sad when those hopes are crushed by a slew of mediocrity dividing the CD in two. `Whisper' and `Wish' are devilishly good, nice intensity and grasp of a heavier mentality. I adore `Wish', even if it never sounds like that is what he's saying. Of course, there is no denying that the best track here is the one that made them a household name. Their take on the infamous `Smooth Criminal' is insanely good (and that music video was fabulous). This is just such a fun and fresh and exciting take on the track that we all know and love. It's a rare feat when a remake of a song can feel just a fun as the original. They put their own twist without ever doing Michael a disservice. 5) Whisper 4) Courage 3) Wish 2) Movies 1) Smooth Criminal In the end I must say that this is a find. Sure, it has a few weak moments, but the good ones outweigh them and make this worth the time and money. It has a great feel and a fun atmosphere. This is one of those albums that has a distinct and memorable personality!

If you like the Smooth Criminal cover, you'll be disappointed by the rest of the album. Not a big fan of this band after hearing this album. They are creepily generic as if molded in an MTV laboratory somewhere in New York City. Just buy the MP3 single, and don't buy this album.

I found this cd in a cd changer I bought off ebay so I thought I would check it out. I had heard Smooth Criminal, Movies, and Attitude and knew they were pretty good but I was surprised how good the rest of the songs were. Whatever happened to these guys?

The best ever re-make of a Michael Jackson song! Band sounds tight and has rythm but this style of music tends to sound the same.

such a great product at such a great price. cheapest that I could find, such fast delivery!

I bought this for my wife as a gift, she loves it, I love the smell of it on her. She receives many compliments on it from strangers.

Absolutely love this fragrance. The longer it is on the better it smells. I get compliments every time I wear it. It lasts and lasts and will be with me forever.

I really love the smell of Alien. Everytime I wear it, I receive lots and lots of compliments on it. You can wear it anytime of the day or night. It's also very long lasting. Beautiful perfume and I recommend it.

Alien is such an interesting and unique perfume - I'm glad to add it to my collection but probably won't wear it often. It is indeed odd and almost pistachio/herbal at first, but that's very brief, and then comes lots of nice jasmine and a faint grape, like frozen Concord grapes. THere is always that looming sweet amber base which after an hour was just too strong for me, and most likely would be very noticeable to those around you. Maybe it will be a good perfume to wear for my own pleasure and to up my tolerance for amber. Definitely strong, long lasting and best used in moderation. Cool bottle too.

Alien Resurrection (Thx) [VHS] Alien Resurrection (Thx) [VHS]

Arrived within 3 days of purchase in fine condition. I will defiantly buy from seller again.

alien resurrection is one of the best in the series. lesberotic - definitely a winner - go to imdb and check out the images of sigourney weaver leaning over winona ryder and holding her by the jaw...nice bit of tension here. that alone would make the 5 stars for me. but beyond this... philosophical - once again ripley is back and sufficiently bad-ass. this continues the theme in the series of perceptions of good and evil and also deepens the well of character development of ripley and her relationships. while the movies started out much more subtly, this one leads you to much more direct and obvious questions regarding which "aliens" are good and which are bad (aliens vs. humans) by presenting ripley as a a genetic half alien half human and by presenting call as synthetic - both of whom demonstrate more feeling, deeper connections, and moral conflict than any of the pure human or alien characters. it calls into question the motivation and feeling of ripley as a mother to her alien offspring... this brings obvious philosophical fodder about the impact of identity and feelings of duty or purpose and how these things play into choices and interactions, human nature, good vs. evil, etc. lastly, aside from the philosophical aspects... action - the film is rich in visuals, has decent special effects sequences, adds the aquatic aliens which are awesome, and still leaves the ultimate "ending" to your imagination.

Jean-Pierre Jeunet is one of my favorite directors because his style is unlike the predictable and awful vision of Hollywood directors. This is a great and bizarr vision of Alien and the killing of the alien being sucked through the window hole is terrifyingly great. Sigourney Weaver is as usual flawless.

Two hundred years after Ellen Ripley died trying to eliminate the Alien species, they brought her back from blood samples taken earlier. It took several tries, and un-fortunate failures to get it right, but they weren't interested in Ellen Ripley- they wanted the alien inside her; and they got it, but they got more than they bargained for. When the aliens grew smart, they broke out of their enclosures. When the crew tried to run, they killed them. And when the Queen's secret was revealed, it exposed a bizare DNA mix-up that left both Ripley and the queen's genetics intertwined; giving light to a new alien that could spell certain doom for Earth. This movie is an entertaining modern fairy tale, a horror action movie, a splatter for the masses. In these categories, it delivers.

This movie is so cool. And Sigourney Weaver is such a great actress. Winona Ryder is always great. I really liked this movie and I thought I was going to hate it.

Average Rating:

Perhaps these films are like the Star Trek movies: The even-numbered episodes are the best ones. Certainly this film (directed by French stylist Jean-Pierre Jeunet) is an improvement over Alien 3, with a script that breathes exciting new life into the franchise...

27 Watts 5500K Color corrected Day Light Fluorescent Lamp Photo Bulb - 2 Pack 27 Watts 5500K Color corrected Day Light Fluorescent Lamp Photo Bulb - 2 Pack

Reviews

Okay based on reviews, thank you all so much, I didn't waste time on these duds. Did find out that you can buy full spectrum, that is, daylight bulbs at the specs listed for this item at your local hardware store, (here's a hint: HD), for about $5 for a pack of 2. For higher wattage it's just best to go to a photography supply retailer like bh or wolf so you get what you ordered. Some folks just don't know the difference and seems this retailer is taking advantage of that.

Once I open the box, the model number is not the same. The light output is 1659 Lumens (not the 1800 Lumens). I can't see anything on the box saying that it is for photo shooting. The box clearly says that this bulk is ideal for table lamps, floor lamps and other open indoor fixtures. Hence I am not getting the right product, which by description is a "27 Watts 5500K Color corrected day light fluorescent lamp photo bulb". You can see anything in the box telling you that you receive the right product. DONT BUY IT .....

I expected more light, but I can get it close enough to like a portrait. Full length shots are another issue all together.

these are off the shelf $2.00 cfls the seller claims 5500 kelvin. These are more like 3500 kelvin. not as pictured or described light spectrum may not matter in a porch light but this seller claims to be selling a photo flood with a daylight spectrum and is not delivering this. the manufacturers website says nothing about spectrum. Ummm maybe you ran out of the good ones and called me a sucker.

This is absolutely mislabeled as a 2-pack but was sent as a single bulb (seller sent the 2nd upon request). The bulbs are nowhere near powerful enough for studio lighting and are, in reality, daylight-corrected household CFLs you can get at Lowes for half the price. Nice CFLs but not suitable for the listed purpose.

Average Rating:

District 9 [Blu-ray] District 9 [Blu-ray]

Reviews

Let me start by saying, I'm a woman who enjoys some science fiction and many guy-type movies. I loved Blade Runner and all the Alien movies, liked Videodrome and A Boy and His Dog. I love the 3 Stooges and own both Jackass movies. So I was all set to like this movie, or at least view it with thoughtfulness and an open mind. Or, maybe, just be entertained. Nothing wrong with that. Was I ever in for a shock. Talk about cinematic crap. Aside from the special effects, I found nothing to redeem this movie. About halfway, maybe two thirds of the way through, I simply turned my eyes from the screen and stared at the wall for the rest of the film. Not because the violence bothered me -- please -- but simply because I was sick of seeing the same thing, again, and again, and again, and again. However I did listen to the rest of the movie, and for reasons I'll give below, I don't think I missed anything and that I can still provide a valid review. Here are the movie's messages. They're quite simple, as you can see. * Old white men in suits are evil. * Army colonels are evil. * Humans mistreat those who are different. Now, before the fans start hollering: yes, I am aware that all of the above are true -- sometimes. But in D9, they're always true. There are no shades of gray, no subtleties, no mitigating circumstances, no questions raised, no thoughts provoked. Of course the above statements have their place in movies, books, whatever. But for cripe's sake I want an author/director who puts some thought into the work, who presents different dimensions. With D9 I felt I was watching a chimpanzee slap paint on a wall. I tired of it very quickly, and found the wall much more interesting to study. Now, why do I feel that, even with my eyes shut, I missed nothing of importance? Because I kept hearing the following elements. Repeatedly. Until I felt they were etched in acid on my brain: 1. Weapon fire and explosions. 2. Splats. 3. Clicks, grunts, croaks, that were the prawns vocalizing. 4. Shouted dialogue, consisting of variations on the word "fook." "fookin hell!" "What the fook ya doin!" etc. 5. String instrument orchestrations. 6. Phone-baloney, semi operatic, wailing, quavering vocalizations, sometimes over a background composed of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. I assumed that at these times something serious was going on. The above six elements happened in no particular order, sometimes two or three went on at once, but it was basically the same sounds, repeated ad nauseum. The soundtrack for this movie must have been the easiest one in the world to compose. A person could mark six sides of a die/dice, and toss it a hundred times, and come up with a soundtrack for District 9. See it if you must, but don't say I didn't warn you.

The Bottom Line: District 9 does a lot of things right and offers some compelling science-fiction entertainment, so I'm able to forgive the fact that in the last half hour all ideas are thrown out the window in favor of nonstop action and poor characterizations (e.g. the Nigerians who show up so we can have another villain in the film); it's an intriguing film and at times a powerful one, but it could have been so much more. 3/4

This is a new and sometimes comic way to show how the governments play with people that are no important to them. Great quality video and sound. This is for what Blu-ray was made!

Out of all my friends who watched this movie, I am in the minority because I am the only one who loved this film. It was hard to watch at first because it is filmed partially in a documentary style and when humans gave their opinions of the aliens, my heart broke because I knew that the attitudes and descriptions imparted by those interviewed were similar to how the whites described blacks during the period of apartheid in South Africa. The same kind of disdain for another living being. Anyway, after I stopped the film and collected myself and then thought.... "this is a like any other sci fi movie." I turned it back on sat back with some chips and thoroughly enjoyed this film. Yeah, they're aliens and they are not cute like E.T but one cannot help but root for them because the humans who were supposed to help them treated them terribly. Turned many of them into addicts, did horrible experiments on them and I hate bullies so.... This movie had everything in it from humor to action to even a sweet moment between an alien parent and their child. Highly recommend this movie!!!

It was no fun watching this movie, either. The makers of this film have limited knowledge of human motives, emotions, and organization. To say that the display of human reaction to the arrival of an interstellar spacecraft was indifferent is an understatement. Every human in the movie treats the presence of aliens on earth as a nuisance and a burden. There is no fear, no awe, no desire to learn their story, and other than the typical evil government/corporate cliche trying to copy their weapons, there is no wonder at the advanced alien technology of which there is an ever-present reminder hanging in the South African sky (I would have said Johannesburg sky, but the spacecraft is so huge it must be visible for hundreds of miles). Even more remiss is the lack of a single scene where a human ponders the fate of humanity, now that beings from another planet have arrived. In fact the disregard for safety is so pronounced that humans board their ship without fear of contamination and then decide that these physically dangerous and technologically advanced creatures from another world should stay as our guests. In later scenes we see that alien artifacts, including weapons, are everywhere amongst the aliens and humans who share the shantytowns together. In reality the governments of the world would have removed any human presence under the spacecraft, put a lockdown on access to the ship, and would study it and its contents forever. The end. Any variation on that story would come from the discoveries made and/or the actions of the aliens. The filmmakers could have contrived an interesting plot from that scenario, but instead we get a ridiculous parable about immigration policy.

Average Rating:

A provocative science fiction drama, District 9 boasts an original story that gets a little lost in blow-'em-up mayhem. Set in Johannesburg, South Africa, District 9 begins as a mock documentary about the imminent eviction of extraterrestrials from a pathetic shantytown (called District 9)...

Planet 51 Planet 51

Reviews

In Nov. 2009, the most expensive movie produced in Spain titled "Planet 51 created by Ilion Animation Studios and HandMade Films with a screenplay by Joe Stillman ("Shrek" films) was released in the US. With a budget of $70 million, despite heavy competition from Hollywood blockbusters "New Moon" and "2012", "Planet 51" earned $94 million worldwide. VIDEO: "Planet 51" looks very good when it comes to details. Presented in 1080p High Definition (2:35:1), I enjoyed the overall atmosphere created by Ilion Animation Studios. From the creation of the homes, the gates, the plants, the skies...the whole '50s feel of the town looks quite vibrant and beautiful. But when it comes to the green citizens, there is much less detail. Although green, even Shrek is green but you can still see the spots within its skin. Not so much for the aliens of "Planet 51", although a lot of detail can be seen in the astronaut uniform of Chuck. But overall, the animation was well-done from Ilion Animation Studios and the presentation is absolutely vibrant in HD. AUDIO & SUBTITLES: "Planet 51" features audio in English and German 5.1 DTS-HD MA. Also, an English audio description track in 5.1 Dolby Digital is included. Because the film incorporates many action scenes, from the sound of the vehicles zipping through the air, Chuck's spacecraft with its engine roaring or the hidden base opening up, there is good use of the surround channels and LFE. Dialogue and music are also clear and understandable through the center and front channels. But overall, a pretty solid lossless soundtrack! Subtitles are in English, English SDH, Spanish, German and Turkish. SPECIAL FEATURES: "Planet 51" comes with the following special features in High Definition with English Stereo and English with German subtitles: * Target 51 Game - Play as Charles "Chuck" Baker in galaxy mode or survival mode. The game also comes with an optional iPhone controller App download from iTunes! * Extended Scenes - A total of three extended scenes: A Total Disaster, When Aliens Invade, What Do Zombies Say? * The World of Planet 51 - (2:52) Featuring the CG clips of the locations and key areas featured in the world of Planet 51. * Life on Planet 51 - (12:04) The making of "Planet 51" plus a look at how ILION Animation Studios in Madrid, Spain created the film. * Planetarium - The Voice Stars of Planet 51 - (3:18) A featurette with interviews with the voice talent of "Planet 51" including Justin Long, Dwayne Johnson, Jessica Biel, Gary Oldman and Sean William Scott. * Planet 51 Music Video Montage - (2:10) A video montage of scenes from "Planet 51 along with a song "Aliens Exist" by Blink 182. * Animation Progression Reels - (15:53) Featuring six animated progression reels. Featuring four split screens with a pre-rendered CG clip, storyboards, and more. * Previews - Sony Pictures Home Entertainment trailers EXTRAS: "Planet 51 comes with a DVD version of the film and also a Digital Copy included on the DVD. JUDGMENT CALL: "Planet 51" is a fun and entertaining sci-fi film. Although, the cold war reference, especially dealing with the fear of aliens may go over the heads of children, "Planet 51" manages to be a film similar to E.T. but in this case, the human is the alien and for the most part, the green aliens speak perfect English. Also, the film does a good job for paying homage to various sci-fi films such as "Alien", "2001: A Space Odyssey", "Star Wars", "Terminator", etc. If anything, the humor of the cold war, especially classic and current sci-fi films will easily make fans of the genre quite appreciate of the film. While, the human "Chuck" is more of a guy that is all talk and makes himself out as a guy who has "the right stuff", Lem has been the alien guy who really never stood for himself and has had his share of low self-esteem. Through helping Chuck and overcoming a variety of obstacles, we see how Lem begins to feel more comfortable with himself and eventually, using his new-found self-esteem to get closer to his dream girl Neera. Despite the film not receiving the greatest reviews, "Planet 51 is a CG-animated film that may not have any deep overtones but there is really cool CG animation when it comes to the actual living areas. The detail is quite beautiful on Blu-ray and the lossless soundtrack is quite awesome as well. The Blu-ray has a good number of special features as well. And if you are a parent looking for a fun and safe film for the kids while going on a trip, the Blu-ray release does include a DVD and also a digital copy as well. Overall, "Planet 51" is a good movie and I think those who are able to pick up on the jokes of the film will enjoy some of its slapstick humor. The film has enough gags to please the children (as my seven year old who watched it in the theater and once again with me on Blu-ray was giggling throughout) but anyone expecting anything more or anything deep may be disappointed. But in the end, I was quite satisfied with the film overall.

I had stayed away from this movie because of all the negative reviews, but my husband persuaded me to give it a try since it was playing at the dollar theater. We also brought our 5-year-old daughter along, thinking this was going to be a kids' movie. Well, though our daughter was entertained, I think this movie is best appreciated by adults who can grasp all of the pop culture references, especially those 50s sci-fi flicks. If you fall into this latter category, chances are you'll be entertained, as my husband and I (both movie buffs) were. The visuals are bright and colorful, and serve to keep kids' interest. The story itself is a kind of twist - instead of human being invaded by aliens (as was so typical of 50s sci-fi flicks), here we have an alien culture who are terrified of a human astronaut who inadvertently lands on their planet. The entire planet is populated by a race of green creatures with antennaes, and they all embrace the music of the 50s, read 50s comics, and generally live out the era. Chuck the astronaut's (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson) arrival is greeted with horror as these green guys have come to perceive those not of their planet as humanoids, and it falls upon hapless teenager Lem (Justin Long), his best friend Skiff (Seann William Scott) and the girl of Lem's dreams, Neera (Jessica Biel) to 'rescue' Chuck. The baddies here are played by General Grawl (Gary Oldman) and mad scientist Kipple (a hammy John Cleese). When the story lags, it uses Chuck's cute robot dog Rover for gags. The movie references lots of classic movies such as Star Wars, Singing in the Rain, E.T., etc. which though hardly original makes it fun and entertaining.

'Planet 51' was the last thing showing at our local theatre that I hadn't already seen. The previews and lobby displays (mis)led me to believe it was just another throwaway kids' cartoon, full of forced cuteness, predictable gags, and cardboard characters; but I had time to kill and the ticket was at matinee price, so I finally went in. Am I ever glad I did! The obvious send-up of 1950s American culture is fun, and so is the shoe-on-the-other-foot twist of the human being viewed as the fearful alien menace, but if that's all a viewer takes away, he or she is missing a lot. There was plenty of unexpected satire that had me laughing out loud through much of the film. There is also a profound message that centering one's society around perpetual fear can cause more harm to a culture's core values than the thing being feared; however, the message very carefully doesn't get in the way of the humanity (alienity?) of the story. The music was well done and really enhanced the fun. Visually, I loved the film. Character design wasn't anything particularly special, but the look of the planet itself was gorgeous. This is a cartoon, after all, not an overblown CGI extravanganza like Avatar, so you shouldn't expect photorealistic rendering of every tiny detail. The beauty of this kind of artwork is in the imaginative forms and colors, the simplicity of shapes and lines that enhance the story, not overwhelm it. Actually, having brought the subject up, I suppose many comparisons and contrasts could be drawn that make Planet 51 a kind of Anti-Avatar. Here, the humans are neither conquering villains, nor paternalistic hero figures. People--er, beings--from both sides have to do their part on Planet 51 to bridge the misunderstanding of cultures and enable goodwill to prevail. That may not be the kind of dramatic plot it takes to engage some viewers' attention these days, yet it's exactly the sort of solid but gentle storytelling one should expect from the offspring of George Harrison's Handmade Films. Plus, so far as I can tell, no one has yet suffered depression after viewing Planet 51. :)

Awful. It was not to good of a movie. It was what I expected - dumb. Seann William Scott (American Pie - Unrated (Widescreen Collector's Edition)) might as well be in the American Pie straight to DVD movies (American Pie Presents: The Threesome Pack) because this movie wasn't good. The beginning is predictable and over-used. It is obvious what is going to happen. If you want a movie about Aliens then see Monsters vs. Aliens [Blu-ray] because this movie (Planet 51) is no good. DVD Features: TBA

I hope this is a good dvd. Hasn't been out yet, but I saw the movie in the theater and that was good.

Evangelion: 1.11 You Are Not Alone [Blu-ray] Evangelion: 1.11 You Are Not Alone [Blu-ray]

Reviews

In 2006, Japanese fans and anime fans of "Neon Genesis Evangelion" received exciting news that in the Summer of 2007, the first of four Evangelion films based on the anime television series would be released in theaters. According to news reports, Evangelion creator Hideaki Anno watched the series from beginning to end and wanted to fix up a lot of questions and debates that fans had over the television series and most importantly, incorporate today's new CG technology for the film versions. Even furthering the excitement is that the original crew and cast have signed on to work on the new film. So, with mass promotion in Japan, "Evangelion 1.01 - You Are (Not) Alone" became the #1 film in Japan making over $14.6 million (US), surpassing "The End of Evangelion" which brought in $14.5 million (US). A limited edition DVD was released in Japan in 2008 which came with a script, music videos and an "Explanation of Evangelion" feature and needless to say, fans paid dearly for this limited edition DVD release (only 300,000 were made). A Blu-ray and DVD release titled "Evangelion 1.11 which included a re-transfer of the film plus three additional minutes was released in May 2009 and is currently the best selling Blu-ray release in Japan and now the Blu-ray and DVD release of "Evangelion 1.11 - You Are (Not) Alone" has been released in the US. With many Americans waiting for "Evangelion 1.11 Blu-ray release, suffice to say, the film was released with a very short run at limited theaters and made over $100,000 and was screened at the anime convention Anime Expo in 2009 with great fanfare. "Evangelion: 1.11 - You Are (Not) Alone" is a film that takes the first six episodes of the TV series and features new animation and CG and a few different storyline details of certain characters but for the most part, creator Hideaki Anno made sure the film was faithful to the anime series. The major difference between "Evangelion 1.01 and "Evangelion 1.11 is that the latter includes three minutes of extra footage (spread out during the first 15 minutes of the film) and scenes that were darker can now be seen much better. Also, the Blu-ray edition boasts video and audio in HD and also comes with special features which 1.01 on DVD was barebones. VIDEO: "Evangelion 1.11 - You Are (Not) Alone" is featured in 1080p High Definition. I had the opportunity to compare the Blu-ray to the 1.01 DVD release from FUNimation Entertainment from last fall and I can tell you right now that this Blu-ray looks fantastic. Detail is much more apparent and the vibrancy of the colors of the film literally pop onscreen. The CG animation is top notch and overall, Gainax definitely went all out in creating a fantastic anime full of detail, vibrant colors and staying faithful to the anime series but making sure everything is updated and looks amazing. The DVD looks good but the main difference was that 1.01 was taken from a 35mm film transfer while the Blu-ray release was taken from the original High Definition digital file. Not to say that the two look like night and day but there is a significant difference in terms of how vibrant and sharper the animation looks on Blu-ray. "Evangelion 1.11 - You Are (Not) Alone" looks absolutely beautiful! AUDIO & SUBTITLES: As for audio, I know how I was appreciative of the Dolby Digital 5.1 for "Evangelion 1.01 - You Are (Not) Alone" but for "Evangelion 1.11 - You Are (Not) Alone", you get a Dolby TrueHD 6.1 English and Japanese lossless soundtrack and there are MAJOR differences between the lossless soundtrack and its DVD counterpart. On lossless, there is good use of the various channels for this film. From hearing the music and main character vocal coming from the center and front channels, you will then hear the loudspeakers through the surround channels and then the rear surround channels carry audio that is different. For example, in one scene in which Shinji is asking out of his mecha, you hear the main characters and vocals through the center and front channels, loud speakers and musical instruments on the surround and on the rear surround channel, you hear Shinji screaming in agony behind you. There is a huge difference between the lossless audio track and the Dolby Digital 5.1 track from the DVD. Personally, the lossless audio is just phenomenal, how it is so immersive and envelops the soundscape from all directions was fantastic. And I am so happy to find out that the Japanese audio track is lossless as well. Something that fans have wanted from anime on Blu-ray! As for the dubbing, personally, I have never listened to the original ADV Films English dubs, so I can't comment on how the newer voice dubs are with the original but from what I hear from friends and have read, fans were more than grateful for the English voice dubbing for "Evangelion 1.01. As for the Japanese voice acting, I've always felt the voice acting was solid. Both tracks are similar for the most part in terms of audio featured on a certain channel but I did notice that the Japanese lossless track took advantage of the space. For example, in the beginning you will see Shinji, his father and the scientist in a large open space. In the Japanese lossless audio track, the sense of emptiness in that area and the echoing can be heard quite well on the lossless Japanese audio track. But I also feel that the English dub was a slight more louder than its Japanese counterpart. So overall, both lossless audio soundtracks are well-done. As for subtitles, the subtitles on the Blu-ray are in English only. SPECIAL FEATURES: "Evangelion: 1.11 - You Are (Not) Alone" contains the following special features: * Rebuild of Evangelion 1.01 - (15:14) This segment features two versions of the pre-rendered 3D compared to the final cut. The two versions are the Shiro Sagisu Version and the Joseph-Maurice Ravel Version and both music are different from one another but the segment is the same. * Angel of Doom Promotion - (2:20) A music montage video from scenes taken from the film. * News Flasher - (:55) Text teasers for "Evangelion 1.11 - You Are (Not) Alone). * Movie Previews - The movie previews contain the Preview 1 (Color Corrected Version), three versions of the "Fly Me to the Moon" and three versions of the "Beautiful World" themes (sung by Hikaru Utada). * FUNimation Entertainment Trailers JUDGMENT CALL: When I first heard that the rebuild of "Neon Genesis Evangelion" would take place and that these new films would be based on the television series, I wasn't so surprised because the series is so popular that it would definitely generate an extreme amount of money for GAINAX. But one thing that I was not looking forward and what drove me crazy about the TV series was the character of Shinji Ikari. Back in the mid-90's, I can easily remember how his whining really tested my patience and looking back, he was such an anti-hero, mainly because he was "emo" most of the time. Always negative, always in a bit of depression and funk as he always felt people didn't care about him (and yes, I know that Hideaki Anno was clinically depressed when he was creating this film and parts of show was based on his depression) but it did get on my nerves at the time. But here we are nearly 15 years later and watching "Evangelion 1.11 - You Are (Not) Alone" and after it was all done, I was excited and hoping the second film would come out stateside very soon. Yes, Shinji still whines and is still depressed but the fact is the film is structured a bit differently from the anime TV series and somehow, the pacing is much easier to take for the viewer with the film version and felt that the screenplay for the first film, the quality of the animation and artistic backgrounds and the music all worked together fantastically. In a way, some part of me wants to rewatch first six episodes of the television series to find out the key differences (it's been 14 years and I can't recall too much from the television series except certain key scenes and the final episodes) were but personally, I found myself happy and content with this film that I look forward to seeing how Anno and the GAINAX crew tweak the next three films (and I can't wait until the final film). But for the most part, I felt that the film, the voice acting, the animation, the art and everything else about the film was well done and fantastic. As for the Blu-ray release, this release was just fantastic. I felt the Eva 1.01 DVD release was good but after watching this Blu-ray release, "Evangelion: 1.11 - You Are (Not) Alone" is just fantastic and just an overall exciting release. Fantastic picture quality, as well as phenomenal lossless Japanese audio. As for the PG-13 rating, yes, "Evangelion 1.11 has its share of violence and nudity, so this is not a series that you want to have your little kids around watching at all. But overall, in the end, it was great to see Evangelion again but this time with the much improved reboot. Nearly 15-years-later, it was definitely great to see Evangelion again but this time in a film sporting newer animation, CG, artwork and a solid screenplay and soundtrack. But most importantly, done in the way that the director Hideaki Anno had wanted but also what the fans have wanted as well. And after I watched the film, I can tell you that I loved it! The action, the drama is still intact. Things may be a little different but still, fans of the original series will definitely enjoy this film release. "Evangelion: 1.11 - You Are (Not) Alone" is in the top 3 for best anime release on Blu-ray. This release is absolutely fantastic and I definitely recommend this film in HD!

This is nothing more than a repackaging of Evangelion: 1.01 made to look like the next in the series. While this version is special edition of 1.01 and has features that 1.01 didn't. Every part of the dressing of this version is meant to imply that it is the next chapter. If special editions are your thing, then this is a good series to collect special editions of. They did a great job of remaking Evangelion, but that fact can be enjoyed by watching Evangelion 1.01 if you already have that version. This is just a warning because the dressing on this set is very deceptive.

English version of 1.11. The sale is Japanese version was seen. Being possible to see in the North America version is the enjoyment. It is a fan of Evangelion and Gundam OO. Japan:EVANGELION:2.22 YOU CAN (NOT) ADVANCE.yBlu-rayDisc Videoz It puts it on the market in Japan on May 26, 2010. It might be a North America version sale next March if the sale time of this time is seen. I look forward to the North America version though I am Japanese. Please look forward.

Like many fans out there, you're probably wondering what in the world the 1.11 rebuild of Evangelion is considering the 1.01 release is barely four months old. While FUNimation has confirmed that 1.01 was the beginning of four rebuilt feature film releases, 1.11 isn't the second one but rather 1.01 again with some of its lighting (lack thereof) issues addressed, the addition of 2-minutes of new scenes and a second disc including a bunch of extra material. Hard facts first: The release is comprised of a two-disc set, with the feature presentation now coming in at comes in at 100-minutes with an appropriate PG-13 rating due to animated action, violence and some ambiguous nudity. Language options are standard sub & dub fair, which means the viewer is given the option of running the original Japanese dialog track or an English dub, either of which is presented in Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound. The option to turn on English subtitles exists for either language choice as well. Extras are quite robust and occupy the entire second disc. Included: Rebuild of Evangelion: 1.01 (Shiro Sagisu Version, Joseph-Maurice Ravel Version), "Angel of Doom" Promotional Music Video, News Flashes, Movie Previews: Preview 1 - Color-corrected version, Beautiful World Version 2, Beautiful World Version 2A, and Beautiful World Version 2B. The story, while straightforward enough in presentation, has been the source of case studies, web-site devotion, even college thesis throughout the years and hence could never be summarized accurately (with dignity) here. However, to reduce it all down to its most basic levels, a young boy by the name of Shinji is thrust into a world beyond comprehension once an attacking "Angel" comes to town. It turns out that Shinji is one of few individuals in the world who possesses the rare ability to pilot the massive synthetic beings/ weapons known as Evangelions. Reluctantly he allows himself to submit to the whirlwind of life-changing experiences associated with becoming an Evangelion pilot and makes some new friends and discovers more about his own past in the process. Working for a top-secret, underground (literally) organization known as NERV, Shingi's life as an average 14-year-old is forever lost to the reality that his destiny is to be the one to save all of mankind from imminent doom. So here it is precisely twelve years since this very material graced Japanese movie screens, you may rightfully be wondering what it is that FUNimation is releasing here. The answer is a bit complex, but I'll do my best to set it straight. Way back in October of 1995, the animated television series Neon Genesis Evangelion made its television debut in Japan. Two years later the work was "rebuilt" into a theatrical release that essentially spliced together the key moments of the tale into a larger, single effort. The mission was a success but kind of like what George Lucas has done with his Star Wars franchise, the creators behind the property always felt as though the technology available at the time wasn't quite where they would have liked it to be to accurately present the tale visually. Hence in 2007, the material was revisited once more, this time not simply remastering from the original film stock, but rather breaking the material down into its raw form so as to correct and readjust even the smallest imperfections such as animation density and errant particles as a result of using film. It was not so much an exercise of splicing new CGI effects and eye-candy into the original material as it was about using modern animation methods to perfect the look and feel of the original material. As an added bonus the CG elements allow for visual flair that was, at the time, quite impossible to achieve. Hence that brings us back to this, the 1.11 release, which is the second official North American release of this rebuilt movie series (it is scheduled to be presented in 4 parts total, with the third and fourth parts being released together). Obviously, part 1.11 represents the introduction to the story. If the timeline appears confusing, rest assured that sorting it all out is by no means a prerequisite to enjoying the film. It starts quickly with very little time spent establishing back-story and sweeps the viewer into a truly unique world where the precision and color pallet of modern computer generated animation melds seamlessly with the unique look of hand-drawn cells of yesteryear. Plot wise, the tale is brisk and wonderfully entertaining with battle sequence on the absolute grandest scale broken up by moments of genuine character-development and emotional attachment. Perhaps the greatest of these being the sexual tension that exists between the lead characters or the appearances of the enigmatic father of young Shinji. Fans, detractors, and scholars alike have gone to great lengths in drawing parallels and comparisons to Evangelion's symbolism throughout the years and yet agreement to or even knowledge of these theories is by no means necessary to come away from the film with satisfaction. In fact, it has actually surprised me in revisiting this film (which is actually made up of the first six episodes of the original television series) at how much of an influence Evangelion has had over subsequent Giant Robot anime franchises like RahXephon and Aquarion. The show is rife with familiar archetypes such as the young boy being thrust into the role of humanity's savior, the biomechanical weaponry/ interfaces, the enigmatic villains that refuse to reveal their intentions, the impassive corporation behind it all, and the dysfunctional family structure that makes the antagonist question his very purpose of existence. Evnagelion is essentially the framework from which all others have followed. The direction is simply wonderful with the structure of the film being more an endless succession of perfectly framed scenes than a random display of visuals. The voice acting is also quite notable whether you choose to enjoy the original Japanese dialog track (which is spectacular by the way) or the freshly dubbed English track featuring the talents of some of FUNimation's finest performers. Either option represents the perfect accompaniment to the impeccable visual work. In all this release marks the beginning of a franchise that has been deserving of revalidation for quite some time. The approach taken with rebuilding the film from the basic elements must surely have been quite an undertaking for all involved but I can attest that the finished product simply oozes with hints of the level of perfectionism sought out in the process. Amazing things are truly possible when such a revered and definitive property receives the loving caress of modern technology's capabilities. Considering the asking price of the new build isn't much higher than the extra-feature-less 1.01 release, this is the recommended choice.

This remake is one of the best, if not the best one I've ever seen. The artwork, sound, everything is simply GRRRRRRRRREAT! THE BEST PURCHASE I'VE MADE THIS YEAR! The original was cool but all the extra relationship and character building was really unnecessary especially after viewing the remake. Don't even hesitate to make this a prime part of your anime collection. I can't tell you the number of times I've watched it and still enjoy it every time. Hurry up with the next volume will ya! gotta see more of the amazing CG as well! Only a fool would pass on this one!

I now fully realize that the product is marketed as a "mask". However, I anticipated the product to be more of a pull over the head costume. The photo is deceiving. The mask is just a flat front with a single elastic strap. Very two dimensional.

This mask was a hugh dissapointment. The mask recieved was not the same as the picture shown. My son took the tags off so I could not send it back. The quality was cheap. They should sell what they show!!!!!!

I bought this for my nephew who is ten years old and obsessed with the Predator movies. He really loved the mask and was thrilled to be wearing it for Halloween.

My mask came right away and my son could not be happier he loves it and still uses it and i don't think he will ever let me put it away.

Ive waited forever for somebody to make a Predator (best movie ever) mask! I was hoping there would be a predator helmet but oh well.
